* Support SMC in responding to routine tax reviews and audits across all taxes, including "Top 100" Justified Trust income tax and GST reviews, as well as Coal and CSG Royalty Audits.
* Communicate tax compliance and reporting issues effectively to management and raise awareness of emerging tax matters.
* Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to strengthen tax compliance and governance.
* Assist the Country Tax Manager in analysing new tax legislation and providing advice on its application to Anglo American.
* Partner with the Group Tax Team on global disclosure requirements, including Country‑by‑Country Reporting, Tax and Economic Contribution Reporting, and Pillar 2 Global Minimum Tax Reporting.
* Support the Governance Team in monitoring SMC's tax control framework, ensuring controls operate effectively.
* Design and document key processes, procedures, and risks in alignment with SMC's tax control framework.

* Professional certification (CA, CPA, ACA, ACMA, CFA) or MBA preferred.
* Proven experience in Tax within Commerce or Public Practice, with a strong understanding of tax concepts and laws.
* Knowledge of the mining sector and indirect taxes advantageous.
* Skilled in governance, compliance, and applying technology for efficiency and control.
* Strong project management, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
* Proficient in accounting systems, Excel, and familiar with tools such as Power BI or other tax technologies preferred.

Additional Information

* Competitive salary including annual bonus + 12% superannuation.
* Hybrid working – 3 days office / 2 days WFH.
