The Opportunity
In this role, you will work one‐on‐one and in group settings with clients of all ages, helping them develop the skills they need to navigate their environments safely and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assessing clients' mobility needs and developing personalised training programs
* Providing training in safe travel techniques, use of mobility aids (e.g., long cane, electronic travel aids), and route planning.
* Delivering orientation services in a variety of environments – from the home, to public transport, to busy urban spaces.
* Supporting clients with adaptive technology, environmental awareness, and problem‐solving skills.
* Collaborating with families, carers, educators, and other specialists to ensure holistic support.
Your Skills and Expertise:
* You are an empathetic, patient, and creative problem‐solver who thrives on helping people reach their full potential.
* A recognised qualification in Orientation and Mobility.
* Experience working with people who are blind or vision impaired.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to adapt training to suit different ages, learning styles, and needs.
* Develop and demonstrate competence in client assessments and evaluations, goal setting, program planning and service delivery.
* Contribute to business development opportunities by providing education, developing networks and referral pathways, and developing and maintaining collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships with relevant agencies and stakeholders.
* Consistently meet KPI's, whilst maintaining quality services and outcomes for clients and completing accurate administration records and reporting.
* A current driver's licence and the ability to travel within the community.
* Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening (or ability to obtain).
* COMS Certified or working towards.
* Active membership of OMAA would be well regarded.
