Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.
Field Officer - Regional Fruit Fly
Salary: $73,089.64 per annum pro rata

Do you enjoy engaging with the community and making a real impact? This is your chance to help protect Greater Shepparton's thriving horticultural industry and support local growers in the fight against Queensland Fruit Fly.
We have two part-time positions available:
* Role 1: 2 days per week (16 hours)
* Role 2: 3 days per week (24 hours)
What You'll Do
* Be the face of fruit fly control — educate and support customers to reduce the impact of fruit fly.
* Monitor and maintain Lynfield traps, identify and record fruit fly numbers, and report findings to the Regional Coordinator.
* Target hot spot areas, build relationships with landholders, and help remove unmanaged habitats.
* Assist with distributing resources to community, industry, and government organisations.
* Support events and meetings that promote fruit fly awareness.
What We're Looking For
* Interest in field work and horticulture.
* Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Basic tech literacy (iPad/tablet) and strong time management.
* Knowledge of Queensland Fruit Fly — or a willingness to learn

Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period. During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on-going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
