Senior Product Designer – Everyday Experiences

A bit about the role:
At Bankwest, we're transforming to become Australia's favourite digital bank, and product design is critical to how we get there. As part of a team that values curiosity, collaboration and bold thinking, you'll help us shape banking that's smarter, faster and genuinely useful for our customers in their everyday lives.
You'll sit within the Brand and Experience team in Customer, Marketing and Communications, championing customer‐led design across our digital ecosystem. Working in a cross-functional, highly collaborative group spanning CX strategy, product design, experience design, and accessibility to turn strategy into reality by designing simple, distinctive, customer‐led experiences.
In this role, you'll design key trust and security experiences within our Customer Trust and Security Crew, including areas such as authentication, fraud and scam protection, account safety and recovery. You'll use customer feedback, behavioural insights and risk considerations to identify the right problems to solve, balance customer experience with security outcomes, and influence solutions that keep customers safe without slowing them down.
Your day-to-day:
Lead and own the problem space
* Drive end-to-end product design from early discovery through to solution delivery, shaping clear problem definitions and iterating towards validated outcomes.
* Lead collaborative discovery with your product trio (Product + Design + Engineering), using research, voice of customer insights, behavioural data, and market analysis to prioritise the right problems.
* Turn ambiguity into clarity in complex projects by framing and validating opportunities, shaping hypotheses, and identifying decision points – so the team has confidence in prioritising what matters most.
Design, test and iterate
* Plan and conduct research using the right qualitative and quantitative methods for the problem.
* Translate insights into actionable design direction, using journey maps, service design blueprints, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
* Use prototyping as a primary communication and decision‐making tool, applying the right level of fidelity at the right time.
* Validate concepts with customers through testing and continuously optimise based on what you learn.
Collaborate and influence
* Communicate design rationale clearly with stakeholders across all levels through clear storytelling and well‐structured playback.
* Operate in a dual track rhythm, contributing to continuous discovery while supporting smooth delivery.
* Build strong cross‐functional relationships with product, engineering, and business partners.
Contribute to design system
* Apply and evolve our design system to support consistency and efficiency supporting teams to deliver quality and cohesive experiences.
* Champion experience excellence across visual design, interaction design, prototyping, and research.
A bit about you:
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer who thrives working end-to-end – from shaping problems and leading discovery, to designing and validating testable solutions, to championing delivery of the vision. You'll plan and facilitate research, co‐design sessions and workshops, and then bring ideas to life through Figma prototyping, iteration, and customer testing.
You're someone who can simplify complexity, advocate for design‐led decisions, balance customer needs with delivery constraints, and bring partners along the journey.
We're interested in hearing from people with:
* 5+ years across the full product design lifecycle (research, discovery, design, delivery).
* Expert capability in lean UX, synthesising what you learn, and prototyping to explore and validate direction.
* Strong interaction design skills with an understanding of native mobile patterns, platform behaviours, motion and micro‐interactions.
* Understanding of customer journeys and experience outcomes and can translate customer needs into clear experience improvements across a journey.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity, weighing trade‐offs, and making recommendations backed by evidence.
* Strong communicator who collaborates well in cross‐functional environments and builds effective partnerships.
* Knowledge of business and technology constraints, with a risk‐aware mindset.
* AI literacy and a willingness to adopt new tools responsibly.
