Your opportunity
As an Extension Advisor, you'll provide leadership and on‐the‐ground support across your region, delivering innovative, well‐planned and collaborative extension activities that drive real practice change on dairy farms.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who enjoys working in the field, building trusted relationships and translating technical knowledge into practical, adoptable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key contact for farmers, building long‐term relationships and understanding their business needs.
* Plan, coordinate, and deliver extension programs and events that support practice change.
* Facilitate on‐farm, in‐person, and online engagement to share knowledge and drive adoption of best practices.
* Capture and share farmer insights to inform regional and national priorities.
* Collaborate with regional networks, advisers and service providers to ensure farmers have access to the latest R&D and resources.
* Work closely with your regional team and broader Dairy Australia colleagues to deliver a seamless farmer experience.
About You
You're passionate about agriculture and enjoy working directly with farmers to make a difference. You bring:
* Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt your message to farmers, advisers and stakeholders.
* Demonstrated experience working with individuals and groups (ideally within agriculture or extension).
* Proven ability to build partnerships, influence outcomes and work collaboratively across networks.
* Sound operational planning, self‐management, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
* A tertiary qualification in agriculture, education/training or equivalent experience.
* Strong understanding of the Australian dairy industry, farming systems and on‐farm decision making.
* Technical expertise in at least one dairy discipline (e.g. feedbase & nutrition, animal health, business management).
* Knowledge of change management principles that support high farm performance.
