Where You'll Be Working
The Centre for Psychotherapy (CFP) is a specialist service within HNELHD for borderline personality disorder (BPD) and eating disorders (ED) and is based in Newcastle at the James Fletcher Campus overlooking Newcastle Beach. CFP staff are dedicated to providing evidence based psychotherapy for their consumers and conducting research to ensure this.
About The Role
The Research Assistant plays an integral role within the broader CFP team, contributing to a varied and engaging range of research activities. In this role, you will maintain computer systems used for the collection and management of research data, along with associated research documents and files. You will assist in preparing research outputs for conference presentations, manuscripts, and funding applications, and provide support with ethics submissions, abstracts, and grant applications.
Working under direction, you will also conduct literature searches and collaborate with consumers, staff, and the research team to support project delivery. Strong communication and time management skills will be essential to ensure research activities are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
You will be supported by the Research Team both at CFP and within mental health services. RedCap training will be provided as needed.
About You
You will hold a degree in a relevant field, or have equivalent work experience, or a combination of both. Demonstrated experience in data collection, data entry, and analysis is essential, along with a sound understanding of data confidentiality and ethical research practices, including Good Clinical Practice certification.
You will be an effective communicator, able to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including researchers and patients. Strong computer skills are required, particularly in Microsoft Excel. Experience with REDCap would be highly regarded, although training can be provided.
