A well-established Queensland-based marine construction contractor, PMG is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and help drive the next phase of our growth.
This role oversees both the Finance, Business Development & Tendering functions of the business, providing commercial leadership across strategy, financial performance, contract risk, and project acquisition — ensuring sustainable profitability and disciplined growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Manager plays a central role in shaping business direction and ensuring strong commercial governance across all operations.
You will:
* Lead and oversee the Finance team, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cash flow management
* Provide commercial oversight of project performance, margins and risk exposure
* Oversee the Business Development and Tendering function, ensuring robust pricing, risk assessment and contract review
* Lead contract negotiations and manage complex contractual & insurance matters
* Drive financial and commercial strategy aligned with company objectives
* Identify and pursue strategic opportunities and partnerships
* Support operational leaders with commercial insight and decision-making
* Strengthen systems, controls and reporting to support ongoing business development
This role balances strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in a dynamic, project-driven marine construction environment.
About You
You are a commercially astute leader who combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal capability. You are confident operating at executive level while remaining approachable and solutions-focused.
You will bring:
* Background in finance, accounting, commerce or commercial law positions at a leadership level
* Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, cash flow and performance analysis
* Solid contract management and risk assessment experience (construction or contract based industry preferred)
* Experience overseeing tendering and business development functions
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
* The ability to drive disciplined growth while protecting margin and managing risk
* Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Law or similar
Experience within marine construction, civil construction or infrastructure sectors will be highly regarded.
