Position Details
Part‑time (0.50 FTE), fixed‑term position for Semester 1 2026, commencing January 2026.
We are seeking a dedicated and professional part‑time (0.50 FTE) Health & Physical Education Teacher to join our dynamic HPE Department at Firbank Grammar in a fixed‑term capacity for Semester 1 2026 (27/01/26 – 26/06/2026). This fixed‑term position is available due to a staff member on leave. The allotment includes:
- Years 7, 8 and 9 Physical Education
- Years 8 and 9 Health
- Co‑Curricular Sport Allotment, which involves before and after school GSV
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head of Department to develop and manage the HPE curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, innovative and aligned with educational standards.
- Assist in the assessment and continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
- Facilitate student learning by employing effective teaching strategies that enable all students to achieve their fullest potential.
- Participate actively in the development and implementation of the department’s philosophy and vision.
- Ensure efficient operation of the department through effective communication and team leadership.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in science education and integrate new knowledge into teaching practices.
- Mentor and support students in their academic and personal growth.
Qualifications:
- Appropriate teaching qualification and current VIT registration
- AUSTSWIM qualification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Proven experience in teaching Health and Physical Education at a secondary school level
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design and innovative teaching practices
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning
- First Aid and CPR Certificates (or willingness to obtain)
