About the Role






We are seeking a skilled and commercially astute Legal Counsel to support our commercial teams to conduct contract negotiations with our valued merchandise suppliers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of managing a high volume of contract negotiations.

You will also;

* Engage in contract negotiations with merchandise suppliers.
* Draft, review, and advise on supply agreements
* Ensure compliance with the Food and Grocery Code of Conduct, the Competition and Consumer Act and other relevant legislation.
* Advise internal stakeholders (procurement, supply chain, merchandise teams) on legal risks, obligations, and strategic negotiation positions.
* Maintain register of agreed contract variations.






About you and your skills

* Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD); current Australian practising certificate.
* Exposure to the grocery, FMCG, or retail sectors.
* Strong background in contract law and regulatory compliance.
* Experience in supplier engagement negotiations and drafting and amending contractual documents.
* Ability to demonstrate experience of high volume and fast-moving contractual matter management within strict deadlines.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
* Familiarity with the Food and Grocery Code of Conduct.
* Experience working in a fast-paced, regulated industry.
* Ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
