Overview

Operational Initiatives are seeking to establish a pool of Managers - School Sport for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of October 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The Operational Initiatives branch manages and implements strategic education programs that support schools and student outcomes, including partnerships with non-government school sectors, corporate and not-for-profit organisations in Western Australia. Delivery of support and services to public schools to assist them in implementing these programs is a key responsibility of the Branch. School Sport works with School Sport WA to develop policies and strategic direction for the management of support and services to students and schools.

The Role Suitable applicants will work in collaboration with School Sport WA to lead and manage the delivery of competitive school sporting opportunities for students in all Western Australian schools. They will promote, plan, establish and manage competitive interschool, interstate and international sport for Western Australian school students, including country weeks, national carnivals and inter-school swimming and athletic carnivals.

This role will oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and guidelines for international and interstate team activities, duties of interstate officials, functions of sport secretaries and committees, program budgeting, codes of conduct and equity in competition.


Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the delivery of competitive school sporting opportunities for students in WA schools, in collaboration with School Sport WA.
* Promote, plan and manage interschool, interstate and international sport activities (e.g., country weeks, national carnivals, inter-school swimming and athletics carnivals).
* Develop, implement and evaluate policies, procedures and guidelines for international and interstate team activities, officials duties, sport secretaries and committees, budgeting, codes of conduct and equity in competition.

Eligibility

* Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
