The Byrnecut Group is a full-service underground mining contractor, providing services to major mine owners throughout Australia and internationally. We operate a multi-million-dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment across multiple continents and operating conditions.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced Longhole Drill Trainers to join our International Support Team. This role is focused on developing capability, improving standards, and transferring best-practice longhole drilling skills across our international operations.
Reporting to the Operations Managers, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Delivering structured on-the-job training and mentoring to Longhole Drill Operators and trainees
* Coaching operators in the safe and efficient operation of longhole drill rigs during stoping activities
* Assessing operator competency against Byrnecut standards and providing clear, constructive feedback
* Ensuring drill plans are correctly interpreted and executed, with holes drilled to design, gradient, and profile
* Working closely with surveyors, geologists, engineers, and site supervisors to support training outcomes and production requirements
* Identifying skill gaps and implementing improvement plans to uplift overall drilling performance
* Leading by example with respect to safety leadership, equipment care, and workplace culture
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across drilling performance and utilisation
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Minimum 12 years' experience in an underground mining environment
* Minimum 5 years' demonstrated Longhole Drilling experience, ideally across multiple ground conditions
* Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, or coaching operators (formal or informal)
* Strong communication skills and ability to work across cultures and experience levels
* A strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational discipline
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and willing to assist with broader site requirements as needed
* A current Australian passport
* Ability to provide an AFP Police Clearance with no criminal history
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
