**The Role**
Are you an expert, experienced and passionate risk management leader? Are you a strategic thinker skilled at distilling complexity and influencing others? Do you enjoy being a change agent, collaborating with stakeholders and advising on complex risk management challenges? If this sounds like you, we'd like you to join us in Joint Logistics Command (JLC).

We are seeking a committed and collaborative Assistant Director of Governance (Risk) to join our growing team of interdisciplinary governance specialists in our mission to achieve the highest standards of governance and risk management in Joint Logistics Command.

As a member of the broader governance team, your role includes:

- Strategic leadership of the risk function at the Command level and across Branches/Units, including fostering a positive risk culture
- Oversight, integration and assurance of the overarching JLC risk management, including due diligence, audit and scrutiny activities
- Direct management of 'second line of defence' (or Tier 2) corporate risk areas including WHS, protective security, and fraud and corruption
- Enabling risk decision-making by the Senior Executive (SES Band 1/2 equivalent)
- Driving analysis and initiatives to deliver continuous improvement in the quality and consistency of JLC governance
- Leadership of the team in conjunction with the Director and Assistant Director of Governance (Planning and Performance).

This is a key leadership role and you will be responsible for driving increased risk management maturity and culture throughout the Command across all enterprise risk categories, including non-corporate risks.

**About our Team**
As part of Joint Capabilities Group, Joint Logistics Command (JLC) is a critical enabler of Defence capability. JLC's role spans logistics service delivery from warehousing to explosive ordnance disposal, through to capability program management, and logistics strategy.

The Command has a large and diverse workforce across wide-ranging work types and sites, with over 1,200 staff from the APS and ADF, complemented by a significant industry partner workforce.

The JLC Governance Directorate is a re-established team of interdisciplinary governance specialists with diverse responsibilities across the full range of governance including business planning and performance, risk management (including protective security and WHS), workforce and financial management. We are supportive, collaborative, and high-performing.

The team supports the Commander Joint Logistics (CJLOG) and the JLC Senior Leadership team to meet their legislative and departmental obligations and accountabilities.

You have a sophisticated and applied understanding of risk management at an executive or whole of organisation level. You enjoy the challenge of solving problems and shaping analyses. You develop evidence-based advice and recommendations, including through effective use of data. In short, you are an expert risk thinker.
- A demonstrated track-record in developing, implementing and improving risk frameworks consistent with best practice and/or Commonwealth direction such as the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy.
- A strong understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire, Commonwealth and Defence governance and risk frameworks, policies, processes and associated guidance.
- Advanced conceptual and analytical skills in order to drive a rigorous risk management approach and to make sound, evidence-based decisions.
- Excellent writing skills, including demonstrated experience in the preparation of high-quality and complex documentation for senior executive audiences.
- Effective team leadership approach and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes and build productive stakeholder relationships, including engaging senior executives with credibility and competence.
- Experience in the design and conduct of audits would be an advantage.
