Primary objective

Provide high level program co-ordination and quality advice to the Rural Generalist Coordination Unit (RGCU) through the

development of policy, provision of administrative support and coordination of program activities. This role works

collaboratively across programs and projects within the RGCU, providing a conduit between the team and stakeholders.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Efficiently research and draft policies relating to the NT Rural Generalist Program.

1. Prepare high quality reports, briefings and correspondence including Chief Executive communications, ministerial

briefings, guidelines, policies, procedures and project action plans.

3. Assist the implementation of specific policy initiatives, prescribed grant activities and contribute to the development and

delivery of branch projects.

1. Responsible for day to day administration tasks including secretariat duties, management of a generic mailbox, phone

enquiries, travel arrangements, media and communication activities, pastoral care, procurement, invoice processing, use

of NTG corporate systems, correspondence with stakeholders and program participants.

1. Record keeping, data collection and maintenance of registers to inform workforce planning continuous improvement.

2. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated high-level computer skills with the ability to prepare comprehensive and timely high-level briefs,

correspondence, reports and policy documents in tight time frames with attention to detail and accuracy.

2. Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to prepare a range of high level

correspondence for different audiences and the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes including clear and concise

verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders.

1. Demonstrated experience in policy development including consultation, research and evidence-based analysis.

2. Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into practical tasks, work processes and administration practices.

3. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects, be proactive, exercise

discretion, produce quality work output showing strong attention to detail and capacity to prioritise tasks.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, relevant to the position.

2. An understanding of key issues affecting the Northern Territory's rural medical workforce.

1. Knowledge of the structure of government and government processes including the preparation of briefings and reports.
