The role is part of the HOPE team within the Mental Health Department. This is a long term fixed term part time position at 30.4 hours per fortnight (job share considered).
About The Role
You will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering a structured, evidence‑based therapeutic group program for children and their parents/carers seen through the HOPE program. This role works alongside other members of the child HOPE program including the Program Clinical Lead, Mental Health Clinicians, Lived Experience Peer workers, Speech Pathologist and the Family Peer Support Worker to best support the child and family.
Classification for this position would depend on candidate’s experience and qualifications based on their discipline, and will range from:
- Senior Groups Coordinator - Grade 3 Occupational Therapist (YB24-YB27), Psychologist (PL1-PL4), Social Worker (YC46-YC49), Speech Pathologist (YB51-YB54) or Grade 4 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (NP75-NP77)
- Groups Coordinator - Grade 2 Occupational Therapist (YB20-YB23), Psychologist (PK1-PK4), Social Worker (YC42-YC45), Speech Pathologist (YB47-YB50) or Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (NP81-NP74)
What You’ll Achieve
- Lead and co‑facilitate groups, managing group dynamics and responding effectively to behavioural or emotional crises.
- Deliver structured, evidence‑based therapeutic group programs for children and their parents/carers that are well‑designed, coordinated, and impactful.
- Develop programs that are developmentally appropriate, trauma‑informed, culturally secure, and responsive to neurodiversity.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline
- Current Registration as an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Registered Nurse with the applicable Health Practitioner Board, or as a Social Worker or Speech Pathologist
- Proven ability to partner with other community mental health teams and community/family welfare agencies to plan and implement interventions for children and young people with complex mental health problems
- Experience aligned to the required years of experience per the applicable Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (varies by discipline)
