Position Title

Adolescent Forensic Mental Health, Community Integration Team Clinician – Aboriginal Identified (HP3/CNS2/PSYCH) – Tamworth Justice Health – PFT

Overview

This is a dedicated Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants must be able to prove Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being an Aboriginal person and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act. JHFMHN deems it appropriate to seek confirmation of Aboriginal status from applicants applying for Aboriginal identified positions or targeted positions either during the interview process or prior to commencement of the position.

The Role

This position is an integral part of a multi‐disciplinary team and addresses the health needs of young people released from custody to transition to the community. It focuses on culturally safe, trauma‐informed care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with mental health and/or substance use needs.

This is a position identified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people on the basis of a genuine occupational qualification under section 14(d) of the Anti‐Discrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants must demonstrate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status in addition to addressing the selection criteria.

Essential Requirements – Allied Health Staff
* Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in occupational therapy and hold general registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia under Ahpra.
* Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in social work and hold or be eligible for professional membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Minimum of a four‐year accredited psychology degree and hold general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia under Ahpra.
* Djirriwang Program, Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health).
Essential Requirements – Nursing Staff
* Registered Nurse with current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with post‐registration qualifications relevant to the position.
* Minimum of at least 3 years' full‐time equivalent experience in the management of clients with mental health conditions, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
* Valid unrestricted driver's licence for use in NSW/Australia.
* Valid NSW Employee Working With Children Check.
