Vin Populi Restaurant is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie (Pastry/Dessert) to join our team on a full-time basis, based in Fremantle's West End.
Vin Populi is known for its fresh pasta made daily, house-made salumi, classic martinis, and carefully curated wine selection.
We are passionate about quality, consistency, and delivering an exceptional dining experience.
As a Chef de Partie (Pastry), you will assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen, with primary responsibility for the dessert and pastry section.
This role involves food preparation, quality control, stock management, and maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist Head Chef and Sous Chef in developing and executing dessert and pastry menu items that are creative, balanced, and aligned with the restaurant's style
Prepare, cook, and present pastry and dessert items to a consistently high standard
Provide suggestions for new dishes, recipes, and techniques
Ensure all food produced meets or exceeds established quality and presentation standards
Monitor portion control and minimise food wastage
Receive and check deliveries to ensure quality and quantity meet requirements
Communicate purchasing and stock requirements to senior kitchen staff
Ensure correct storage, labelling, and stock rotation in line with food safety regulations
Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional kitchen conduct at all times
Ensure all equipment in the pastry section is properly cleaned and maintained
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with WHS and food safety standards
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma, or equivalent)
Minimum 2 years' experience as Pastry Cook / Pastry Chef
Proven experience working in a professional commercial kitchen
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
Salary
From AUD $76,515 per annum, plus superannuation, depending on experience.
