About the Role
We're looking for a strategic and proactive Assistant Director, Media and Public Relations to help drive the Agency's reputation and storytelling.
This is a high‐impact opportunity to work in a fast‐paced, issues‐driven environment where your communication expertise will directly support national health priorities.
You'll play a central role in managing the Agency's public profile by:
* Leading proactive and reactive media engagement, including handling enquiries, issues management and rapid responses
* Developing and delivering media and PR strategies, campaigns and content
* Advising senior executives on media engagement, messaging and reputation risks
* Coordinating media opportunities, announcements and stakeholder engagement activities
What you'll bring
You're an experienced communications professional who thrives under pressure and can confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
* Proven experience in media, PR, journalism or strategic communications
* Strong ability to manage media enquiries and produce high‐quality content quickly and accurately
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefing materials, talking points and media responses
* Demonstrated experience developing and delivering PR strategies and managing reputational issues
* Strong stakeholder management skills and sound judgement in sensitive situations
* Experience leading people or coordinating external providers
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Highly regarded
* Experience in government, health or complex public sector environments
* Exposure to issues management and after‐hours media response
Salary: This role offers between $124,583 - $142,089 plus 15.4% superannuation depending on skills and experience.
