Position Information
Cringila Public School is a small primary school with a current enrolment of 163 students, situated on Dharawal Country, home to the people of the Five Islands Dreaming, beside Lake Illawarra and the escarpment. We support a diverse, multicultural community with students and families from many nationalities contributing to our rich school culture. Currently, 80% of our student population has a language background other than English representing thirteen different language backgrounds. The most commonly spoken languages are Arabic, Macedonian and Turkish and we are proud to be able to provide opportunities for all students to engage in learning these languages. Our school motto, 'A Caring and Cultural Community', underpins all that we do. All students are supported through tailored, individualised, evidenced-based and differentiated teaching. We prepare students for success with a focus on wellbeing, academic growth and social and emotional intelligence. Every child is known, valued and cared for through strong connections with culture, families and the wider community.
Cringila Public School is excited to be opening our new public preschool, pending building and regulatory approvals. This initiative is part of the NSW Government's commitment to deliver 100 new public preschools by 2027, which is the biggest expansion of public preschools in NSW history.
Our new public preschool will provide quality play-based, intentional educational programs guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, to help all children make a strong start in life and learning and experience a successful transition to school.
Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach preschool holding an AECQA approved teaching qualification, with working knowledge of and ability to implement the National Quality Framework including Early Childhood Education and Care National Law & Regulations and National Quality Standards.
* Demonstrated capacity to plan and implement a preschool program based on the Early Years Learning Framework, including a thorough understanding of age-appropriate pedagogies including play-based learning and intentional teaching.
* Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and families from diverse backgrounds through excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills to manage the complexity of a preschool setting.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a whole school team, including specialist school-based staff and external agencies, to design, implement and evaluate effective programs transitions for students into primary school.
* A commitment to embedding cultural responsiveness into the preschool program.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
