The role
Overview
Our Lenah Valley site in Hobart manufactures a range of more than 50 milk, milk‐based and cream products, with all products made from fresh milk sourced directly from Tasmanian dairy farms. The site currently produces around 35 million litres of product every year, operating 6 days a week and employing around 50 people.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join our small, close‐knit reliability team. This role involves all levels of mechanical maintenance tasks, including project work that will utilise your trade skills in a fully equipped maintenance workshop on site.
Shift details
Shift: 12‐hour shifts (3:30a.m. – 3:30p.m. and 5:30a.m. – 5:30p.m.) on a roster of 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 6 days off. Overtime is possible.
Responsibilities
- Providing maintenance support and breakdown rectification to the site
- Assist in the delivery of minor works and capex projects on site
- Help identify and support opportunities for improvement relating to reliability
- Perform scheduled and ad‐hoc safety checks and maintain high standards in safe work practices
- Coach operators in front‐line basic problem solving and root cause analysis
Qualifications
- Certificate III or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in manufacturing and/or preventative maintenance
- Strong knowledge of various maintenance methods and the ability to investigate problems, determine and implement root‐cause corrections
- A commitment to safety and safe systems of work
- Effective and clear communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with many different people is a must
