The Launch Vehicle Operations Department is responsible for the development of policy, operational procedures to conduct Launch Vehicles (LV) testing & launch operations. The Head of LV Operations is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team and ensure the operations are conducted in line with company's goals. In this dynamic and rewarding position, they will be required to develop a continuous improvement culture that drives results based on efficiency, safety, delivery, and cost metrics. You will also document and communicate across teams to ensure duties are performed in an efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage the Launch Vehicle Operations Team conducting testing & launch operations for multiple programs across Gilmour Space
- Lead a group of multi-disciplinary employees to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
- Responsible for managing the complete LV operations process and ensuring safety at all times
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Launch Vehicle Ground systems & testing infrastructures.
- Develop a safety-first mindset within your team and develop initiatives to reducing injuries common to launch & testing operations
- Review operational procedures and make change recommendations when processes can be improved. Additionally, empower your team to do the same.
- Meet aggressive and dynamic operations schedules that are needed to keep launch & testing milestones are fulfilled
- Responsible for assessing headcount needs of the LV operations team, and vetting the appropriate skill sets needed for new hires
- Monitor maintenance, test infrastructure costs and drive cost savings
- Identify and set-up training programs to improve or maintain technical competency within the team
- Identify operational challenges within the organisation through operational surveillance, lead problem formulation, and develop creative and effective solutions.
- Continually identify improvement for processes, safety, cost effectiveness.
- Work with the Human Resources team to grow the Gilmour Space team as required

**Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or similar discipline
- 10+ years of professional experience in operational activities (testing, maintenance, product operation )
- 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and technicians
- Exceptional work ethic, initiative, attention to detail and ability to obtain and retain new information
- Demonstrated resilience and ability to work well in a safety critical, dynamic environment
- Experience working well with multi-disciplinary teams
**Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**:
- 10+ years of experience in operations management role in space or aerospace industries
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) with technicians, supervisors, engineers, and any other support departments
- Experience with setting targets and expectations, and then working with a team to reach these targets, and ability to track progress
- Good understanding and working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation/requirements
- Experience delivering positive and constructive feedback to individuals
- Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
