Position Overview:
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician at Langtree's Machinery Services, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe operation, reliability, and performance of diesel engines, heavy vehicles, and earthmoving equipment. Your skills and experience will be applied to diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing preventative maintenance across a wide range of machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and determine repair needs.
* Perform repairs, maintenance, and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other heavy equipment components.
* Diagnose and repair electrical systems including lighting, starting and charging systems, air systems, sensors, wiring looms, and electronic controls
* Diagnose and repair air condition systems including slave systems, bunk cooling, icepack system etc
* Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment accurately.
* Use a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery to complete tasks.
* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
* Collaborate with team members to coordinate repairs and efficiently complete tasks.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and labour hours.
Qualifications:
* Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics (AUR/MEM).
* Trade qualification as an Auto Electrician (or equivalent)
* A/C Handlers Licence
* Proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / HME Fitter.
* Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment.
* Cummins and CAT experience are desired.
* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices.
* Effective communication skills.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing work requirements.
* Valid driver's license.
