Senior Chef Role

This position is responsible for preparing daily food production for a hospital, ensuring that any dietary needs are met and that Australian standards, codes of practice, legislative requirements, and the hospital food safety plan are followed. The successful candidate will hold a minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) and possess sound knowledge of safe food handling processes.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in a cooking or catering department, demonstrating expertise in Cook Chill and Cook Fresh food production systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.

The Senior Chef will be responsible for maintaining high-quality food service, providing excellent customer service, and adhering to health and safety regulations. They will work closely with the Manager Catering Services and Executive Chef to establish systems and procedures for waste minimisation, including recycling and co-mingling.

In addition to their technical skills, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of normal and modified diets, including the preparation of thickened fluids. They will also have a good understanding of best practices for meal presentation, quantity, portioning, and timeliness.

The role involves participating in Departmental Quality Activities and other work-related meeting groups. A healthy work-life balance through flexible work options, additional purchased leave, and well-being programs is offered.
