Cardiology Specialist Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiology Specialist to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist cardiology services, including outpatient and inpatient care. They will also contribute to the general clinical workload of the Department of Cardiology and provide services related to their sub-speciality interest.

About the Role
The Staff Specialist - Cardiology position will:
* Be a consultant role in general cardiology and electrophysiology.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in cardiology.
* Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and to be actively involved in research.
* Undertake quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
The Cardiology Specialist will:
* Provide a consultant service to inpatients and admit patients under their care incorporating principles of best practice.
* Conduct outpatient clinics in general cardiology and heart rhythm disorders, with supervision of nurse-led clinics.
* Ensure a system of continuous quality improvement that systematically evaluates, identifies opportunities for improvement and plans to implement strategies to meet customer needs.
Clinical Leadership
The Cardiology Specialist will:
* Provide clinical leadership in electrophysiology and cardiac devices through service development and clinical redesign.
* Organise and lead a weekly meeting to discuss patients with indications for complex cardiac devices and catheter ablation.
Teaching and Research
The Cardiology Specialist will:
* Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate specialist trainee teaching.
* Liaise with University of Tasmania, Department of Medicine and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in respect to the teaching of undergraduates and Registrars.
* Assist with education, supervision and training of all health professionals.
* Maintain an active involvement in research.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
* Holds specialist registration; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
