We're looking for a Structures Design Coordinator who thrives in the detail, owns the model, and knows that great fabrication starts long before the first cut. If you live in Tekla, think in 3D, and understand what happens on the workshop floor and out on site — this is your role, which for the ideal candidate can be based out of our Kurri Kurri or Parramatta locations.
The Opportunity
This is not just a drafting role.
You'll be the driving force behind the coordination, development and optimisation of structural fabrication information for our workshop and site teams. You'll bridge the gap between client design, project delivery, and real-world fabrication — ensuring every bolt, weld and lift has been thought through before it happens.
What You'll Be Doing
* Develop and manage Tekla Structural 3D models for large-scale steel projects
* Design coordination between clients, project teams and workshop
* Transform client structural and architectural drawings into fabrication-ready models
* Own shop drawing development to maximise workshop efficiency
* Coordinate subcontract detailers and manage overflow packages
* Lead drawing transmittals, revision control, RFIs and constructability reviews
* Develop erection drawings and support modular assembly & transport requirements
* Identify design and fabrication risks and ensure they're captured in documentation
* Support subcontractor engagement, technical scopes, pricing reviews & compliance
* Partner with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, workshop & site teams to drive seamless execution
* Maintain strict compliance with AS1100, AS/NZS 5131, AS 4100, AS/NZS 1554, AS/NZS 1252 and relevant WHS standards
* Managing external detailing providers when required
* You won't just produce drawings — you'll own the technical integrity of the project.
What You Bring
* 5–10 years' experience in 3D structural modelling on large-scale steel projects
* Advanced Tekla Structures capability (essential)
* Strong technical drawing and detailing expertise
* Deep understanding of Australian structural steel standards
* Workshop or site-based fabrication experience (highly regarded)
* Trade background (Boilermaking/Engineering) or Engineering degree (Civil/Mechanical) desirable
* Proven ability to manage document control, revisions, RFIs and subcontract detailers
* A sharp eye for constructability and fabrication efficiency
* The ability to communicate confidently with engineers, project managers, clients and site crews
