Since starting in Perth in 2012, CMW Geosciences has expanded to 22 offices with 300 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are dedicated engineers and geologists providing quality geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design advice to the construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
As a graduate at CMW, you'll be treated as an industry professional from the start. After completing training and inductions, you'll gain practical field skills essential to our technical work. You'll have access to senior staff for guidance and will be exposed to the full project lifecycle, preparing you for a career from day one. Unlike larger organizations, you won't be siloed or assigned low-responsibility tasks initially. Instead, you'll develop technical, practical, and project management skills, with the expectation that within 3-4 years, you'll be capable of managing projects independently.
Our Wollongong office is looking to hire one graduate starting in November 2025 or January 2026.
A Typical Day
Graduates in our field-based roles typically go to sites for manual fieldwork and testing. This may include logging rock and soil boreholes, conducting hand augers, or observing machine-excavated test pits. On construction sites, you might observe piling, retaining walls, or ground improvement activities.
If based in the office, your tasks could include processing logs and soil samples, writing technical reports, and assisting project managers with deliverables.
Our projects are diverse, spanning different countries and offices. For example, you might communicate design elements to contractors on a community housing development in Rotorua, supervise piling and support construction phases at the MacIntyre Windfarm in Queensland, or undertake CPT testing and infiltration testing at Jandakot Airport in Perth.
