Job DescriptionA Holmes Lumber (a division of Carter Lumber) Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of various types of equipment and items. This includes working on semis, trailers, skid-steers, forklifts, small equipment, and golf carts. Occasionally, you'll also be responsible for small fabrication jobs. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company is necessary for this position.Requirements:At least one year of experience in the industry with a solid foundation in mechanical knowledge.High School Diploma required.Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. Some days may include traveling to get parts or make small roadside/offsite repairs.Maintain a clean driving record.Competitive pay.Responsibilities:Facility MaintenanceMaintain proper records and inventory of parts and supplies used on each job. Ability to order parts and take ownership of tasks.Ensure the upkeep and cleanliness of the shop, breakroom, bathroom, and surrounding areas.Perform repairs and maintenance tasks assigned to the shop.Keep a safe and clean working environment through housekeeping and self-motivation.Report to a shop supervisor for daily tasks, safety, and technical support.Equipment MaintenancePerform preventive maintenance, wheel seals, hydraulic repairs, brake work, system charging, driveline repairs, electrical work, engine repairs, small fabrication jobs, DOT inspections, HVAC, and diagnose vehicle faults with computer software.SafetyPlan and execute work safely, involving others as needed.Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced, close-quarters environment.Follow safety protocols and guidance from managers/supervisors.Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve issues.Proactively address unsafe situations to ensure a safe working environment.Physical Requirements:Mechanical aptitude required.Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours across various surfaces.Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs. regularly without assistance.Able to bend, kneel, crawl, push, and pull multiple times daily.Benefits (full-time employees):Health, Dental, Vision insurance options available after 30 days.Short and long-term disability insurance.Company-paid life insurance and AD&D.Optional supplemental life insurance.Company-match 401(k).Vacation and paid holidays.Vendor incentives.Opportunities for growth; promotion from within.Military applicants encouraged to apply.
