Screw Foundations Pty Ltd, based in Port Kembla, NSW, are a total solutions company dealing with wide range of services covering Screw Piling, Foundation Systems, Civil Works and Structural Steel Manufacturing. We are seeking a highly skilled First Class Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, the ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, and a commitment to producing high-quality metalwork.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret fabrication drawings and engineering specifications for screw piles, brackets, extensions, and related foundation components.
* Prepare and measure metal materials to meet production requirements, ensuring all steel sections, pipes, and plates are correctly cleaned, marked, and ready for fabrication.
* Cut steel components using flame cutting torches, band saws, and cutting machines to produce accurate lengths and profiles for screw foundation assemblies.
* Form and shape metal components, including helices, pile shafts, and brackets, using bending machines, rollers, heating methods, and manual tools.
* Fit and align components such as pile shafts, helix plates, lugs, and mounting brackets using layout tools, jigs, and fixtures to achieve exact tolerances.
* Perform high-quality welding (MIG, stick, and other required processes) to assemble screw piles, structural supports, and custom foundation hardware.
* Inspect welded assemblies to ensure correct penetration, bead quality, alignment, and compliance with company and engineering standards.
* Finish fabricated components by grinding, filing, and cleaning welds to prepare products for coating, galvanising, or installation.
* Maintain workshop welding equipment and tools, performing routine checks, adjustments, and minor repairs to ensure safe and continuous operation.
* Work safely within the fabrication workshop, following Screw Foundations Pty Ltd's safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality assurance processes.
Requirements:
* Recognised Trade qualification as a Welder.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position.
* Strong practical welding experience across multiple processes.
* Ability to work from technical drawings with minimal supervision.
* Commitment to safety, accuracy, and high-quality workmanship.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a fabrication team.
Salary: $ 77,000 plus Super
