Role Overview:
The Social Media and Events Officer will be responsible for promoting the Organisation, its programs and community initiatives through engaging digital content and well-coordinated events. This role supports OLALC's visibility, community connection and stakeholder engagement by managing social media platforms, creating simple marketing materials and assisting with event planning and delivery. The position requires a creative and organised individual who can work flexibly, communicate effectively and represent OLALC in a positive and culturally respectful manner
Key Responsibilities
· Plan, create and schedule engaging content across all social media platforms to promote our organisation, programs and events.
· Develop and implement social media campaigns to grow reach, engagement and brand awareness.
· Monitor page activity, respond to messages and comments, and build positive online relationships with our community.
· Track basic social media analytics and provide short updates on what is working and areas for improvement.
· Capture photos and short videos at events and prepare content for future promotion.
· Prepare simple marketing materials such as basic graphics, flyers and event invitations (Canva or similar).
· Maintain an events and content calendar to ensure consistent communication with members and stakeholders.
· Coordinate events from planning through to delivery, including bookings, run sheets, set-up/pack-down and on-the-day support.
· Promote events through social media, flyers, email lists and community networks to maximise attendance.
· Liaise with suppliers, venues, speakers and partners to confirm event logistics and requirements.
Selection Criteria:
· Has experience in social media management, events, communications or a related field.
· Is confident using Facebook, Instagram and other social platforms.
· Has basic design skills (Canva preferred).
· Is organised, reliable and able to work flexibly.
· Can communicate well with a wide range of people and build positive community relationships.
· Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
· National Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain)
· Valid C Class Driver's License
