Job Title: Land Force Design Strategic Adviser
Rates: $140 – $160 per hour
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to contribute at the strategic level of Land Forces planning and capability development.
We are seeking a Land Force Design Strategic Adviser to join a Defence headquarters team responsible for shaping and delivering elements of Land Force Design outcomes.
Working within an integrated team environment, you will support the development of campaign management approaches, strategic plans and decision-support products, linking high-level strategic direction with practical program and capability outcomes.
This role will suit candidates with deep Defence experience who are comfortable operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, and who can translate strategic guidance into clear, actionable advice and products.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide analytical and coordination support to the development and refinement of Army campaign management approaches
* Support the development and review of strategic plans aligned to Land Force Design priorities
* Develop high-quality briefs, papers and decision-support products for senior Defence stakeholders
* Contribute to concept development, research and strategic analysis, supporting future force design
* Support alignment between strategic direction and program-level delivery across Army capability initiatives
* Engage with ADF, APS and contractor stakeholders to identify risks, gaps and opportunities
* Provide advice to working groups and contribute to strategic planning forums and discussions
* Support the development and publication of strategic products, including formatting and presentation to Defence standards
Skills and Experience Technical
* Demonstrated experience in Defence strategic planning, concepts development, or capability planning
* Strong understanding of:
o Land Force Design and/or Army planning environments
o Joint Concepts Framework and Defence Strategy Framework
o Defence Capability Life Cycle / One Defence Capability System
* Experience developing briefings, strategic papers and decision-support products
* Ability to synthesise complex information into clear, structured outputs
* High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Security Clearance
* Australian Citizenship is mandatory
* Minimum NV1 security clearance required
