LET'S EXPLORE THE JOB
We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to join our Infrastructure Assets Strategy team. In this role, you will undertake investigations and technical assessments of the transport network, providing expert advice and recommendations to improve safety, accessibility, and efficiency across Lake Macquarie.

You will contribute to traffic planning, management, and operations by preparing reports, conducting road safety audits, liaising with government agencies, and supporting Council's Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee.

Your work will directly influence the design and delivery of transport infrastructure that shapes our community's future.

Key Focus Areas Of The Role Include

* Undertake technical investigations, traffic studies, and safety audits to identify improvement opportunities.
* Prepare and present reports and recommendations to Council committees and stakeholders.
* Manage community consultation relating to transport projects and infrastructure.
* Review Traffic Management Plans for construction works and events.
* Provide technical advice on development proposals and infrastructure asset planning.
* Support project management and delivery of transport infrastructure within budgets and timeframes.

Let's Hear About You
You are a skilled civil engineer or transport planner with a passion for strategic traffic and transportation planning. You bring experience in traffic modelling, development assessment, community consultation, and project/contract management and administration. Your strong financial skills in cost control and estimating help ensure efficient delivery of civil infrastructure projects.

You have a breadth of vision that includes considering the aesthetics of the final product in all works, alongside a working knowledge of GIS applications and asset management systems. Your strong communication skills enable you to engage confidently with internal teams, developers, elected officials, and the community. You have a thorough understanding of local government legislation, planning frameworks, and traffic regulations, and are adept at negotiating infrastructure contributions with private developers and authorities.

You Will Bring

* Degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic/Transportation Planning, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in strategic traffic planning, traffic modelling, and development assessment.
* Skilled in community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Current NSW Driver's Licence.
