The Role
As the APS6 Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting and supporting strong governance across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing monthly financial reports, annual financial statements and Portfolio Budget Statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, external reporting requirements and whole of government frameworks.
* Managing and coordinating external audit activity, supporting internal audits and the Audit Committee function, including preparation of quarterly papers and provision of Secretariat support.
* Overseeing accounting operations activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end processes and credit card management, as well as supporting the management accounting function as required
* Managing insurance, risk management activities, and contributing to the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures and financial processes.
* Contributing to finance related projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance and service delivery outcomes.
The Ideal Person
You are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:
* Substantive and experienced APS6 with strong financial operations and reporting knowledge and a record of stable tenure
* Experienced Analyst or Senior Consultant in a Big 4 or second tier consulting firm, with experience supporting Federal Government clients in financial reporting
* Auditor or Senior Auditor in a Big 4 or other audit firm, with experience conducting financial audits for Federal Government clients.
Ideally, you will be an experienced financial accountant or financial auditor at the APS6 equivalent level, with a sound understanding of financial operations, experience preparing Portfolio Budget Statements, and experience using CBMS.
Australian citizenship is required for this role.
Salary / Rate
* $95k - $111k + 15.4% Super
