Faculty of Science / School of Veterinary Science Full-time permanent position Competitive renumeration plus 17% superannuation at HEW 8 Based at Gatton Campus About This Opportunity Join UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital as a Senior Primary Care Clinician and lead a high-performing team delivering exceptional, relationship-centred care. Mentor students, interns, and junior clinicians while shaping hospital practices through clinical leadership and continuous improvement. Opportunities include contributing to shelter medicine and surgical training at the RSPCA Brisbane Animal Care Campus (Wacol). Key responsibilities will include: Lead Clinical Excellence: Deliver and oversee high-quality, relationship-centred care for small animal patients, including wildlife, while leading a collaborative and high-performing Primary Care team. Mentor & Inspire: Provide advanced clinical guidance, role modelling, and mentorship to junior clinicians, interns, and students, supporting their professional growth and development. Teach & Develop Talent: Deliver hands-on clinical training for undergraduate and postgraduate students, interns, and residents, contributing to their learning and the hospital’s teaching excellence. Drive Improvement: Identify opportunities for service enhancement, lead quality assurance initiatives, and champion best practices across clinical care. Engage & Strategise: Represent the hospital externally, coordinate seamless patient care across teams, and contribute to strategic planning, operational management, and key leadership projects. Clinical Excellence: Advanced clinical experience through residency, ANZCVS membership, or several years of practice. Relationship-Focused Care: Committed to collaborative, patient- and client-centered veterinary care. Leadership & Mentorship: Inspires and mentors junior staff and students, serving as a clinical role model. Proactive & Engaged: Drives continuous improvement, fosters strong professional relationships, and contributes to the School’s teaching, industry, and community engagement.
