The role of Assistant Company Secretary is perfect for someone who has some existing experience in the Corporate Governance area, preferably in financial services, who is keen to learn and able to hit the ground running to support the team, both with day-to-day responsibilities as well as project tasks.
- Your main responsibilities will include:_
- Providing support to the Company Secretary in managing the Company Secretarial function in Australia and to the Deputy Company Secretary in the administration of Australian subsidiary boards and Management Committees.
- Providing advice, guidance and support to senior management of committees of which this position is Secretary, on matters of corporate governance, statutory and regulatory developments, as well as best practice requirements and standards.
- Co-ordinating and managing the end-to-end paper submission process and action follow-up for Board and Management Committees under the Company Secretariat remit.
- Assisting in managing the administration of Corporate Database, Director onboarding and Powers of Attorney for HSBC Australia companies as well as assisting with and driving digitisation and simplification projects.
- Contributing to the development of appropriate policies, corporate governance frameworks and best practice within Australia.
- Assisting with the development and execution of strategic and operational objectives of the Global Company Secretarial function
- Maintaining and developing positive relationships within the business, with regulators, listing authorities and other external advisers / suppliers within Australia.
Requirements
- To be successful in this position you will need:_
- Knowledge of and experience working with corporate governance principles, as a governance advisor, ideally in a banking / financial services environment.
- To be a proactive forward thinking self-starter, with an adaptable nature and a genuine desire to continue learning.
- Proven relationship management and communication skills with the ability to influence and advise.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and with the ability to drive policy and process
- Relevant tertiary qualifications are an advantage.
- Completion or partial completion of a Company Secretarial qualification.
