About The Position
The position involves:
* Provision of partly furnished shared onsite accommodation (must provide own linen)
* Provision of all meals (during school term time), power and internet access
* 10 hours of tutoring students per week on Mondays through Thursdays 5pm‐8pm (Year levels 5‐12)
* Experience with tutoring Mathematics and Science subjects is an advantage, but all subjects will be considered
* Overnight duties from 10:00pm‐6:30am on a roster of four nights per week (with a paid sleepover allowance)
* Additional rostered paid work to assist with early wake‐up calls for boarders, accompany boarders on outings, supervise students within the house, extra tutoring or organise extra activities
* Accommodation provided all year‐round, including during school holiday breaks, but supervision and tutoring work is only required during school term weeks (boarders return home for the holidays)
It is essential the successful applicant has a genuine desire to work with adolescent girls who are living in an environment away from their homes, and an ability to relate to adolescent girls.
About You
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated boarding team committed to fostering a strong sense of care, connection and community within the Boarding House. We are seeking a warm, organised and proactive Boarding Tutor to join our Boarding House team and support the academic and personal development of our girls within a vibrant residential community. The Boarding Tutor plays an important role in creating a safe, structured and supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally. This position combines academic mentoring with pastoral care responsibilities, ensuring daily routines, expectations and boarding procedures are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing academic support and supervised study assistance to boarding students
* Assisting girls to develop effective study habits, organisation and time management skills
* Supporting the smooth operation of the Boarding House through the implementation of routines and procedures
* Maintaining a safe, caring and respectful environment for all boarders
* Supervising students during boarding activities, evening routines and designated duty times
* Building positive relationships with students, families and staff
* Responding appropriately to student well‐being needs and emergency situations when required
The Successful Applicant Will Demonstrate
* A genuine passion for working with young people
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build respectful, professional relationships with students of all ages
* The ability to maintain professional boundaries while building positive rapport with students
* Excellent organisational and problem‐solving skills
* A calm, dependable and approachable manner and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students build confidence and achieve academic success
* Previous experience in education, tutoring, boarding or youth support environments will be highly regarded and the ability to tutor across a range of subjects, with experience in Mathematics and/or Science
* A collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute to the broader life of the boarding house, including outings, activities and day‐to‐day supervision
* A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
* Flexibility to work a rostered overnight and evening schedule, normally Monday to Thursday during school term. Small adjustments can be negotiated
