The appointee will be expected to promote innovative teaching and high impact research in the Department, and contribute to academic leadership in the Department, Faculty and the University.
This position reports to the Head, School of Biomedical Sciences, and is part of the School of Biomedical Sciences and works closely with the Director of the Doherty Institute.
Heads of Department are responsible to Head of School, Dean and ultimately to the Vice- Chancellor, for the management of their department within organisational, policy and strategic framework established by the University. Heads have delegated authority from Council for carrying out their responsibilities.
The prime role of a Head of Department is to provide the academic leadership and management to facilitate a collegial, productive and safe working environment in the Department, the School/Faculty and the University.
