About the Role
As a Family Therapy Specialist, you will work independently while feeling supported by a collaborative and close-knit team. You will make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families.
This is a unique opportunity to gain therapeutic skills and experience in Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) by providing therapy, care coordination, and advocacy to families experiencing child protection concerns. You will work alongside a team of Child Protection Counsellors and an Aboriginal Health and Family Worker to enhance child safety, strengthen parenting capacity, and support placement stability, restoration, and family preservation.
You will receive a mix of formal orientation and hands-on learning, with ongoing professional development through strong connections with Child Protection Counsellors across the District. This includes access to ECAV training, regular supervision, and peer support to ensure continuous growth and refinement of your skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide therapy, care coordination, and advocacy to families experiencing child protection concerns.
* Work collaboratively with a team of Child Protection Counsellors and an Aboriginal Health and Family Worker to achieve desired outcomes.
* Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance child safety, strengthen parenting capacity, and support placement stability, restoration, and family preservation.
* Participate in ongoing professional development through training, supervision, and peer support to ensure continuous growth and refinement of your skills.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
* Strong therapeutic skills for supporting families.
* A commitment to working with vulnerable families who have experienced trauma.
* Knowledge of child protection, domestic and family violence, and trauma, with a drive to deepen your expertise.
* A willingness to work closely with Aboriginal families and communities to Close the Gap.
