Job Description: Project Manager – RMR Technology Rollout

Position Summary
Lead the large-scale deployment of RMR technology across electricity distribution network. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from planning and regulatory compliance to field execution and system integration—ensuring the network is prepared for the energy transition and extreme weather events.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Delivery & Lifecycle: Manage technical projects from initiation to completion, developing detailed project plans, budgets, and resource allocations aligned with the 2026–2031 Electricity Distribution Price Review (EDPR).
* Field Operations & Coordination: Oversee field deployment activities across Victorian sites, working closely with delivery partners such as Zinfra to ensure work packages are completed safely and on schedule.
* Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary bridge between internal engineering teams, digital teams, and external technology vendors to ensure seamless hardware installation and data integration.
* Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all installations comply with the National Electricity Rules, Australian Standards, and AusNet's HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) frameworks.
* Risk & Outage Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks, including managing planned outages and regional logistics to minimize customer impact during the rollout.
* Performance Tracking: Monitor progress against baseline schedules and provide critical analysis and insights to the Projects Leadership Team for informed decision-making.
Key Skills & Experience
Field Rollout Expertise
* Demonstrated experience managing high-volume hardware rollouts (e.g., smart meters, IoT sensors) in diverse geographical environments.
* Practical experience in managing complex high-voltage substation or distribution projects and coordinating large-scale field crews.
* Proficiency in utilizing field service management tools (GIS, SAP, or mobile-first tasking apps) for real-time asset tracking.
Technical & Industry Knowledge
* Strong understanding of trunked radio systems (e.g., P25, TETRA, or equivalent) and their application in utility/public safety environments.
* Deep understanding of Smart Grid technology, distribution automation, and remote monitoring systems.
* Familiarity with the Australian energy regulatory landscape and AER pricing cycles.
Project Management Mastery
* Advanced skills in scheduling tools (MS Project, Jira) and methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, or Agile).
* Strong financial acumen to track multimillion-dollar CAPEX budgets and manage contractor variations.
Leadership & Communication
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaborative relationships in a complex stakeholder environment.
* Strategic thinking to identify major project challenges and develop proactive mitigation initiatives.
Qualifications
* Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/IT preferred) or a relevant Project Management diploma.
* Certifications: PMP or PRINCE2; regarded.
