Nurses Working as Support Workers
Location: Ballina. Immediate opportunities for registered nurses and enrolled nurses looking for flexible work while continuing to use clinical knowledge in community and disability support settings.
About the role
This is a permanent part‐time position (4 × 64 hours per fortnight) for nurses working as support workers based in Ballina. The role involves supporting people living with disability to live and recover within the community, fostering independence, goal achievement, daily activities, wellness and re‐ablement.
About you – Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum Cert III in Disability, Mental Health, Peer Work, Individual Support or equivalent.
* Valid NSW driver's licence (Class C) with ability to drive large cars and/or vans.
* Australian Police Check, NSW WWCC and NDISWC, or willingness to obtain before commencing.
* Strong values aligned with Passion, Integrity and Respect.
* Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems.
Your responsibilities
* Collaborate with customers to develop individualised, person‐centred support plans.
* Provide support to improve independence through skill development, transport, social activities, finances, appointments, cooking, medication and personal care.
* Encourage participation in chosen activities such as social, leisure, sporting, educational and employment.
* Keep customer records up to date using online systems and electronic databases.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers, families, caregivers and stakeholders.
* Assist customers in navigating the sector to access additional services.
* Seek innovative ways to enhance the recovery journey and overall customer experience.
