Building Maintenance Officer
Mackay Regional Council is looking for a team-focused, solution driven Building Maintenance Officer to join our Parks & Open Spaces team. In this role you will create a lasting impact through the building and maintenance of infrastructure in parks while adhering to Australian standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Building Maintenance Officer, you will:
* Build and maintain infrastructure in Parks, including paths, seats and tables, shelters, amenity blocks, locking bin poles and cabinets.
* Conduct visual inspections and condition audits of park assets such as picnic shelters, park furniture, shade structures, amenity buildings, fencing and playgrounds
* Assist with or undertake installations and repairs of park-built assets and Council facilities.
* Operate and maintain small plant, power tools, and equipment relevant to the position.
* Use technological devices for communication, data collection, and work order management.
* Complete scheduled works and contribute to specific projects.
* Meet customer and stakeholder requirements while maintaining Council's image and reputation.
* Perform other responsibilities as directed by your immediate supervisor.
* Assist with inspections, installations, repairs, and scheduled works under supervision.
* Undertake comprehensive inspections and audits, provide direction to maintenance staff, raise work requests, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and standards (Level 4).
* Perform trade-level installations and repairs, lead advanced inspections and audits, provide direction to staff, and demonstrate expertise in compliance and reporting (Level 5).
Special Requirements
* Occasional out of hours work (including weekends).
* Regular local travel.
* Requirement to undertake physical work in a variety of outdoor environments.
* Requirement to complete work as part of emergency management response, subject to prevailing conditions at the time.
