In our data stream, we're looking for graduates with a degree in data or a related degree such as:
- actuarial studies
- business analysis
- business and finance
- computer science
- data administration
- data mining
- data science and analytics
- econometrics
- engineering
- mathematics
- project and program management
- statistics
- visual analytics.
If you have any of the above degrees, you can apply to both our data and generalist streams. If you’re assessed as suitable for both streams, we’ll try to match you to the data stream first. Once you start, you’ll stay in the data stream for the duration of the program.
You can also apply for the data stream through the Australian Government Graduate Program and choose Services Australia as your preference.
Range of work
In the data stream, you might work on a range of projects and tasks such as:
- data analysis, research and trend reporting
- information and data management
- data engineering and analytics development
- fraud and compliance investigation
- data analysis relevant to service delivery and policy
- machine learning methodologies
- data manipulation and cleansing.
You might also:
- develop and evaluate data models
- design reports and interactive visualisations
- work with domain and data experts in an agile project environment
- produce reports and make recommendations based on analysis.

- a competitive salary, ranging between $71,170 - $79,322 depending on your qualification level
- progression to the APS5 classification upon successful completion of the program

Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, you must be an Australian citizen.
You’ll need to have successfully passed and completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last 5 years.
If you got your degree overseas, you’ll need to have it recognised by the Department of Education.
