Job Title: Biomedical Equipment Specialist
About the role:
Mater Health has an exciting opportunity for a skilled HP3 Electronic Biomedical Technician to join our dedicated Biomedical Engineering team, based at our South Brisbane campus.
This is a full-time, permanent position that plays a vital part in ensuring the safe, effective, and reliable operation of critical biomedical and medical gas equipment across Mater hospitals.
You'll be part of a collaborative and values-driven team supporting cutting-edge healthcare technology in one of Queensland's most respected not-for-profit health organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform a diverse range of technical tasks, from routine to complex and integrated with other disciplines that is of a consistently high technical standard.
* Independently solve complex technical problems regarding biomedical equipment and medical gas delivery equipment such as ventilators, anaesthetic machines, patient monitors, defibrillators, analgesic devices, infusion pumps etc with minimal supervision.
* Provide technical expertise and advice to peers, managers, and clinical teams, ensuring a consistently high standard of service and safety.
* Participate in policy development, quality improvement initiatives, and training of junior staff within the biomedical engineering department.
* Install, configure, and support networked medical equipment, contributing to the ongoing advancement of Mater's medical technology systems.
* Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster and assist across Mater locations as required.
About you:
You're an experienced and motivated technician who takes pride in delivering technical excellence and supporting safe patient care.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant ELECTRONICS or BIOMEDICAL discipline (Associate Diploma acceptable if pre-****).
* Preferrably, you hold a QLD Restricted Certificate of Competency (Level 1, 3, or 5) issued by the Electrical Workers and Contractors Board (QLD).
* Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing complex biomedical equipment, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Sound communication, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technical software.
* A valid Queensland Driver's Licence.
