About the role
Reporting to the Project Director, a dedicated Client-Side Project Manager is responsible for the project management and delivery of the Early Works Beveridge Intermodal Rail Project.
The role will oversee internal project management, project governance and assurance throughout the construction and commissioning phases. This role is a mix of site and office activities and requires a professional with extensive Tier One/Two contractor experience and a proven ability to collaborate within diverse teams, and an unwavering commitment to achieving project milestones while safeguarding natural and cultural assets.
The position will contribute to the development of the broader Beveridge Intermodal Precinct project, and work in a collaborative team environment to ensure project delivery objectives are met or exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll be doing
* Drive project deliverables in alignment with timelines, budget, and safety and environmental regulations.
* Chair meetings held with internal stakeholders to address specific project activities which have impact on the terminal operation.
* Carry out the necessary contract administration tasks to ensure that the project is completed in time and within budget. The tasks include site meetings, site inspections, contract notices with contractors and other stakeholders, assessment of progress claims and resolving technical issues.
* Monitor and review the use of resources to ensure the efficient allocation of resources staff to meet project demands.
* Identify potential areas of conflict between project activities and operational requirements and work with stakeholders to eliminate or minimize adverse impacts.
* Work collaboratively with the Project Management Office for all project Gating approvals and stage reviews.
* Prepare reports to senior management of project progress, activities and approvals.
* Liaise with Legal Counsel staff during, prior to and after commissioning so that all requests regarding legal and procurement matters are met.
* Prepare Consent, Planning Approvals and any other necessary authority approvals to ensure that prompt commencement of works can occur.
* Under the direction of National Intermodal's Representative, direct and oversee the activities of various contractors, ensuring efficient communications and reporting between contractor and project managers.
* Review and manage contractor performance and contractual obligations.
* Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and heritage protection plans.
* Collaborate closely with environmental and heritage consultants to implement preservation protocols, minimising ecological and cultural impacts.
Your background
* Minimum 10+ years of experience within major infrastructure.
* Proven track record of site management on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, preferably in rail, intermodal, or transport-related sector.
* Substantial experience in Tier One/Two contracting environments.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management, or project management highly desirable.
* Experience with leadership to be able to motivate and manage on-site teams in a manner that prioritises environmental and cultural heritage considerations.
* Strong financial and contractual acumen, with experience in budget control and contractual negotiations.
* Demonstrated experience in environmental and heritage compliance, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
