Position:
Mancala have successfully won a 2 year project in Zambia and are the lookout for an experienced Finance, Contracts / Administration Manager to join our team onsite. This is a great opportunity for someone with or wanting overseas experience in the mining industry.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will ensure that the finance, contracts & administration, and procurement coordination functions of the project operate smoothly and effectively on a day-to-day basis to deliver the required outcomes for Mancala. You will liaise with the Group Chief Financial Officer located in Australia on all financial and compliance matters to ensure the project meets business and statutory requirements. The role does not include responsibility for detailed accounting, tax filings, or contract management, which are handled by the local professional accountant and the Head Office Finance team in Melbourne.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Financial Management and Reporting
· Manage all financial operations for the KCM project, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for Mancala and KCM stakeholders.
· Monitor project expenditures and highlight variances against budget.
· Ensure accurate cost allocation to project activities and cost centres.
· Oversee cash flow planning to support operational requirements.
· Review and approve supplier invoices, payroll summaries, and financial transactions.
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.
Contract Administration and Compliance
· Manage the main contract between Mancala and KCM, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
· Interpret contract terms and advise project leadership on rights, risks, and obligations.
· Maintain contract registers, variations, claims, and correspondence.
· Ensure compliance with KCM policies, Zambian regulations, and industry standards.
· Coordinate with legal teams on disputes, amendments, and negotiations.
· Monitor contract KPIs and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
Procurement and Vendor Management
· Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
· Ensure procurement activities align with contract terms and project budgets.
· Evaluate vendor quotations and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
· Monitor vendor performance and delivery timelines
Administration & Office Management
* Manage site administrative functions including correspondence, filing, document control, and record keeping.
* Oversee site logistics, staff accommodation, and travel arrangements.
* Coordinate site communications and maintain confidentiality of all company information.
* Support the preparation of project reports and maintain accurate document control.
Compliance & Safety Support
* Assist with site compliance requirements including local authority registrations and renewals (ZRA, PACRA, NAPSA, etc.).
* Support project safety initiatives by maintaining HSE attendance and documentation records.
Requirements:
* Minimum ten (10) years’ commercial experience in the mining or similar industry, Zambian or other African experience is preferred
* Accounting qualification desirable
* High level knowledge on Microsoft Office programs
* Intermediate knowledge of an accounting software program (preferably Pronto) and Sage Payroll
