We are seeking a practical, hands-on Handyperson to take responsibility for general maintenance and repairs across the Abel Tasman site.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping buildings, grounds, and equipment in excellent working order.
This is a part-time position, 30 hours per week, with flexibility around scheduling.
Primary areas of responsibility
Maintain and care for gardens and grounds.
Perform general repairs on buildings and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and fix plumbing issues.
Repair or service equipment such as washing machines, showers, lights, heat pumps, fans, vents, and similar fixtures.
Monitor and maintain bait stations.
Conduct fire alarm checks and basic fire-safety maintenance.
Complete painting tasks.
Clear gutters, drains, and maintain kitchen facilities.
Perform general repairs, grounds maintenance, plumbing, and equipment servicing tasks as required.
Ideal skills and abilities
Strong practical ability with a range of tools and general trades.
A "can-do" attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable, organised, and proactive in identifying maintenance issues before they escalate.
Ability to multitask and prioritise repairs across a busy site.
Commitment to safe work practices.
Experience
Previous experience in maintenance, property care, trades, or facility upkeep.
Experience repairing common household and commercial fixtures (desirable).
Basic plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, or carpentry knowledge (advantageous).
Qualifications
Current driver's licence
Any trade qualification or maintenance-related certification is welcomed but not essential.
Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
