Please be aware that candidates may be required to undertake their duties at any or all of these locations.Riverland Funerals also operates and manages Riverland Cremation Services providing a local crematorium for the Riverland Community.The funeral industry can be an extremely rewarding vocation, as there are few industries that allow you to make a meaningful difference in people's lives at a time when it matters the most.ABOUT THE ROLEOpportunities have opened for Funeral Directors\' Assistants to join our team.
These are entry-level positions and successful candidates require no industry experience but will become familiar with many facets of the funeral industry.This role is quite agile and would be well suited to an individual who likes a range of different tasks from day to day, rather than a small scope of repetitive work.
A Funeral Director's Assistant is expected to develop competency in most, if not all the following duties as part of a team.
On-the-job training will be provided.Typical duties include:Assisting in the preparation and delivery of funeral servicesGreeting families and attendees at funeral servicesOperating and maintaining fleet vehicles and other equipmentGeneral cleaning and maintenance of facilities and vehiclesTransfer of deceased into our careEngraving and cutting of signs and plaquesOperating video cameras and multimedia equipmentAssembly and installation of small monuments and plaquesSetting up equipment for funeral services, including cemetery equipmentTrimming of coffins and casketsWe are committed to providing pathways for skilled growth and development within the team.
For a willing and capable candidate, over time such development may lead to:Desktop publishing and video editingDressing and preparation of deceased personsSale and design of small monuments and plaquesMaking funeral arrangements with client familiesFuneral DirectingMultiple casual positions are available.
For the right candidate, the position may become permanent.The role includes some after-hours work and after an initial training and probationary period, the successful candidates will be expected to join our on-call roster rotation.KEY ATTRIBUTES OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATESWell-presented, honest, and reliable.Able to maintain strict confidentiality.Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.Comfortable working within the funeral industry, and able to maintain composure in difficult or confronting environments.Holds a current Australian Driver's License.Has availability for after-hours work.Has basic computer skills at a minimum.Able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons Clearance.Prepared to receive vocationally relevant vaccinations.REMUNERATIONWe offer competitive, over-award rates.
Casual positions are subject to a loading of 25%.
