The position oversees Barista duties, overall customer experience and operations, responsible for staff management (hiring, training, scheduling), maintaining a clean and inviting area, ensuring excellent customer service, managing inventory and supplies, and coordinating communication between the front and back-of-house teams to drive customer satisfaction and cafe profitability.
Overall, a Gun Barista who play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers while delivering high-quality beverages, food and service in a fast paced work setting.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management:
- Recruitment and Training: Hire, train, and schedule FOH staff, such as servers, hosts, and baristas.
- Supervision: Oversee daily shift operations, ensure staff adhere to internal policies, and maintain excellent customer service standards.
Customer Experience:
- Coffee Preparation: Preparing a variety of coffee beverages according to customer preferences and cafe standards. This includes using espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other equipment to brew espresso, drip coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, and other specialty drinks.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensure guests receive a warm welcome, excellent service, and a positive overall experience.
- Knowledge of Special Diets: Some customers may have dietary restrictions or preferences. Be familiar with alternative milk options (such as soy or almond milk) and be able to accommodate special requests.
- Upselling and Promotions: Responsible for promoting special offers, new menu items, or loyalty programs to customers and on the social media pages as planned.
- Issue Resolution: Address customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally to resolve issues.
Operational Management:
- FOH Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the front of house, ensuring a clean, organized, and well-maintained environment.
- Inventory & Supplies: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control for FOH areas.
- Menu Knowledge: Need to have a thorough understanding of the café's menu, including all beverage options, ingredients, and pricing. Should be able to make recommendations to customers based on their preferences.
- Cash Handling and Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems: Processing transactions accurately and efficiently is essential. Handle cash, credit card payments, and operate POS systems to ring up orders, handle cash transactions, and provide receipts.
- Communication: Facilitate efficient communication between front and back-of-house staff.
Administrative Tasks:
- Scheduling: Develop and maintain work schedules for FOH staff.
- Budgeting: May assist with financial reporting, tracking expenses, and managing budgets.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
