Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor – Nundah
Employment: Part‐time, 68.4 hours per fortnight. 6‐month maternity leave position with potential extension. Location: Nundah. Remuneration: $51 per hour plus superannuation and NFP salary packaging.
Role Overview
This role delivers trauma‐informed counselling and case management support to women experiencing high‐risk domestic and family violence. You will provide specialised therapeutic interventions, conduct complex risk assessments and safety planning, offer short‐to‐medium term case management and advocacy, maintain defensible client records, and collaborate with internal teams and external specialist services.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist DFV counselling and therapeutic interventions.
* Undertake comprehensive and ongoing domestic and family violence risk assessments.
* Develop, implement and review safety plans.
* Provide short‐to‐medium term case management and advocacy.
* Maintain accurate, timely and legally defensible client records.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external specialist services.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling from a recognised tertiary institution.
* Queensland Open Driver's Licence.
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card or eligibility to obtain).
* Eligible membership with one of the following professional bodies:
o Australian Association of Social Workers
o Australian Psychological Society
o Australian Counselling Association
o PACFA Member Association
* Direct experience working with women impacted by domestic and family violence.
* Confidence in undertaking complex risk assessments and safety planning independently.
* Comfortable working with high‐risk and high‐complexity presentations.
* Knowledge of legal and service systems relevant to DFV practice.

Female representation is required for this role. This is a genuine occupational requirement under Section31 of the Anti‐Discrimination Act1997 (Qld).

* Ability to maintain accurate client records, including case notes, assessments, referrals, reviews and reports.
