About The Project
The Southern Program Alliance is contracted by the Victorian Government to remove the most dangerous and congested level crossings. This is a high-profile infrastructure project with significant public impact. You will work on an infrastructure project as part of a global team, using continuous improvement methodologies and innovative technology to leave a lasting legacy.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Engineer provides technical oversight and management, translating engineering goals into actionable plans. You will support design, manage contractors, and liaise with stakeholders. You will solve on-site technical problems, document project progress, and ensure compliance with standards and legislation.
Responsibilities
- Issue and monitor compliance to Permit to Work for defined high-risk activity.
- Ensure Safety in Design is applied and mitigate risk from design through to construction.
- Conduct weekly site inspections and record observations for close-out.
- Support Temporary Work Designs in consultation with the Engineer Manager.
- Develop a scope of works in a logical work breakdown structure to plan lower-level activities requiring monitoring.
- Submit planning and coordination requirements with a 6-week lookahead and required resources.
- Contribute to the development of scope of works documentation for contractor procurement and tender processes.
- Use contract clauses to progress claims, EOT, liquidated damages, variations, and close-outs.
- Identify and raise issues under the contract to avoid time bars.
- Track costs for labor and plant, verify quantities for subcontractor claims, and verify receipt of goods/deliveries.
Required Skills And Competencies
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a project-based engineer in construction engineering (e.g., rail and related civil infrastructure).
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Current Driver Licence and own reliable vehicle.
