**Primary purpose of the role**
The Hardware Support Officer will work on the statewide information technology Desktop Replacement Program and zone site support by installing and upgrading computer hardware and network services, maintaining appropriate records regarding inventory and assets and improving efficiency by evaluating system network functions.
**Key accountabilities**
- Install computer/network hardware and coordinate the establishment of network services Standard Operating Environment as part of the Desktop Replacement Program with computer/network hardware including workstation configurations (desktops, laptops, tablets and docking stations, printers (network and stand alone); modems; switches; standard servers; internet and network connections)
- Provide input into the development of Standard Operating Environment (SOE) including documentation as to ensure deliver documentation that complies with industry standards
- Provide input into the selection of new equipment and product evaluations; complete user acceptance testing and related testing documentation in accordance with agreed quality and timeliness standards to meet business requirements
- Provide advice, quality customer service, training and support to end-users, especially following installation of new information technology infrastructure to ensure a smooth transition of technology implementation for users
- Update databases and other records management systems regarding information technology hardware inventory, assets and site documentation; ensure accuracy and currency of the information for planning, management and reporting purposes to assist detailed monitoring for the Desktop Replacement Program
- Undertake a range of administrative activities related to the purchase, installation, repair and maintenance of infrastructure hardware and equipment; maintain accurate and complete records to support all activities to adhere to procurement and asset management policies
- Foster professional relationships with hardware vendors and service providers to ensure ongoing cooperation
**Key challenges**
- Working independently to identify and resolve technical problems via analysis, lateral thinking and good judgement and in a team environment to ensure effective and seamless service delivery
- Providing technical support to a broad range of users with diverse technical issues and levels of expertise
- Developing and maintaining knowledge and technical capability across diverse and dynamic hardware, software and technologies
This role ideally will start ASAP so longer notice periods wont work for his 2 month contract.
