What's the role?
Reporting to the Head of Continuity and Risk you will oversee statutory property compliance, hazardous materials governance, and high-risk contractor assurance across our multi-site portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include:
Chemical & Hazardous Materials Governance
* Lead chemical and hazardous substances management processes across the business including bunding and other Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) requirements.
* Review and approve new chemicals in accordance with established governance procedures.
* Maintain and review hazardous chemical and hazardous materials registers across all sites.
* Conduct chemical audits and assurance activities, ensuring actions are tracked and closed out.
* Provide coaching and guidance to Facilities and local Managers responsible for day-to-day site assurance.
* Oversee environmental compliance actions where applicable.
* Management of the chemical software system.
Property Compliance & Statutory Assurance
* Track and respond to property environment audit actions, ensuring evidence is verified and actions are closed out
* Manage periodic compliance site inspections and assurance actions to verify statutory obligations are effectively implemented, including the management of required databases, such as Legionella.
* Review and assure mandatory servicing, permits and certifications.
* Ensure maintenance of asset risk registers and proactively identify emerging compliance risks across operational sites.
* Manage the business's buildings directory of site specific regulatory information, plans and reports.
* Capture the learnings and track any remedial or improvement actions following fire alarm activations, particularly those that result in an incident, evacuation, or business interruption.
Strategic Property Projects & Contractor Management
* Review and approve Safe Work Method Statements and supporting documentation for strategic property projects.
* Verify principal contractor compliance prior to works commencing, in line with existing management systems.
* Conduct spot audits and verify Permit to Work systems to ensure controls align with site conditions.
* Act as subject‐matter expert, provide technical feedback on and elevate non‐compliance where required.
Training, Documentation & Capability Building
* Contribute to the development and delivery of HSS training, specifically regarding chemical safety and hazardous materials.
* Maintain HSS procedures, intranet content and compliance documentation.
* Contribute to broader HSS projects and cross‐functional risk initiatives to strengthen organisational capability.
Governance, Reporting & Assurance
* Support reporting and executive briefing requirements by collating data, drafting written reports and preparing summaries.
* Maintain audit and regulatory readiness by maintaining documentation, evidence and records.
* Conduct quality assurance and continuous improvement act
Who are you?
* 5+ years in health and safety advisory or similar role; significant project/property portfolio exposure
* Experience in using risk management approaches, specifically within chemical management, hazardous materials, or environmental compliance.
* Proven experience in providing coordination and administrative support in a complex organisational setting.
* Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, industry standards, risk frameworks, SWMS/JSA, incident investigation
* Experience in managing audit actions and evidence‐based close‐out processes.
